Nigerian celebrities have chosen to lead by example. Earlier on the 8th of October 2020, Falz the Bahd guy, Runtown, Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa , Mr. Macaroni among others all took to the streets of Lagos to lead the protests against police brutality.

When Naira Marley announced on social media that the protest should be put on hold, it looked like it would not happen but Nigerian citizens chose to see a greater good that outweighs personal desires.

The aforementioned artists took to their various Instagram account to stream the protest live on Instagram. The protest led by Falz took place at 10:00 am from Lekki phase 1 all the way  to the toll gate. Fans felt a certain sense of accomplishment but they were still annoyed that the train setters were not there.

That’s right, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Naira Maley were not present. A video was released of Burnaboy and Wizkid and Skepta in a studio in London.  This disheartened a lot of Nigerians as they believe their icons should be more patriotic and sensitive to the movement. Wizkid and Burna Boy were at the heart of the fan’s discontent as they are seen as figures of rebellion and are seen by some as the reincarnations of Fela Anikolapo Kuti which is no surprise that their fans are concerned.
