The #EndSars protest has been one of the most pivotal moments of the year 2020. Exploring the power of the masses and how citizens can make their lives better by getting their voices heard. The protesters have been successful in their endeavors to address the unspeakable acts committed by the Special-Anti-Robbery-Squad by getting the unit dissolved.  Now the protesters are taking to the streets as members of the disbanded unit are still operating in the newly instated Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).

The Lagos state Governor at the protest

On Tuesday, the 13th of October, Lagos state’s Governor Babajide Sanwolu met with the young protesters in hopes that he could empathize with the enraged youth, but he was in for a big surprise. As he began to talk, the protesters started chanting Davido’s new song FEM. Which is a slang for “Shut Up”. Governor Sanwolu explained that the arrested protesters have been released and that he had a meeting with the inspector general of police in Abuja Mohammed Adamu later. The protesters replied with the chant “small talk you don dey talk to much FEM”.

Youth’s are not looking to be swayed or moved but to be heard and for Nigeria to experience the dramatic change that it deserves.
