The #EndSARS protest has been very prominent in recent weeks. Youths from all over Nigeria have taken to the streets to raise their voices against police brutality. Anambra protesters came late to the party but decided to make their mark on proceedings. The Anambra youth protesters came together in Awka , the state capital on Friday the 16th of October.
The protesters met at the state capital to match all the way to the dissolved Awkuzu SARS head quarters. The group headed by James Nwafor, is notorious for torture, arbitrary arrest, extra-judicial killings and gross misconduct. Protesters marched 25 kilometers to their oppressors to shut down the facility.
Big name artists, Phyno, Flavour and Kcee led the march all the way to the Awkuzu headquarters. The entertainers were accompanied by their personal securities and a band of protesters chanting “End Sars , End Sars.” The police replied with guns blazing.
This later caught the attention of Governor Willie Obiano who announced that James Nwafor will be prosecuted. His excellency also added that he will personally visit the facility to release illegally detained protesters.
