Celebrities have influence beyond their understanding. They inspire people by just being professional. A number of entertainers have driven the recent #EndSars protest and lending their voices to empower the enraged youth of Nigeria. However, they can easily lose their credibility when they are not careful with what they choose to post on social media.

Screen queen Omotola Jalade Ekeinde faced an array of insults for her lack of sensitivity for the lives lost at the Lekki toll gate . On Friday October 23rd ,The veteran actress wrote “If People died during the Lekki Toll Assault, let their people speak out please, and if there were No deaths then enough with the sensationalization because it does not remove from the Crime that happened. PEACEFUL PROTESTERS WERE ATTACKED. WHY? BY WHOM! #EndImpunityinNigeria” on her twitter page.

Her ignorant comments were faced with the full force enraged twitter users.

Some people even believe she is an intermediary for the government

Omotola was moved by the responses as she swiftly pulled the post off twitter. She wrote “I’m deleting that tweet so it’s not used wrongly. Apologies as it’s been misunderstood. Sorry about the use of “ if” . Please don’t distrust Everyone there are steadfast people . Know them. We move #endimpunityinNigeria #Endpolicebrutality #EndBadGoveranceInNigeria”

Ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Gifty Powers is also guilty of this crime. She recently apologized to her fans for asking why protesters where still in their homes during the curfew to mock the resilience the youth.
