Veteran Actor and politician Desmond Elliot, had a lot to say about the impact of social media. In a video leaked today, Elliot addressed the speaker of the Lagos state house of representatives asking his excellency “when shall we change this narrative?”
The Lawmaker representing Surulere 1 indicated that social media has had a massive roll to play in the riots that have taken place. Elliot said “I read through the comments and I saw children reigning curses… what is going on ? ” Elliot added that the recent agitations on social media have shown that culture has lost it’s value. He added “People have the infantry to enter the Oba’s palace and hold the staff of office.” Through this he made it very clear that Nigeria will be finished in the next 5 years if something is not done right away.
To round up the statement, Desmond Elliot charged all celebrities to address the hate culture that is growing on social media. He finished by saying “you have a means to change the government constitutionally. It’s called your PVC.” Through this Elliot believes we all have a mandate which is to get our Permanent Voters Card and vote in the government we want to see.
