The Nigerian music industry has had massive impact on global music development. The reach of Nigerian stars is enormous. For this reason, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has chosen to recognize Wizkid, Tiwa savage and Davido. The Music icons have run riot in the past few years and their efforts are being rewarded on a grand stage.
Tiwa Savage was nominated twice for the Outstanding International Song’ category for her single off her ‘Celia’ album titled ‘Temptation’ which featured American pop sensation Sam Smith; She was also nominated for her part in Davido ‘ s ‘Tanana. The song also got NAACP Davido’s name on the nominee’s list for the Outstanding International Song’ category.
Wizkid was nominated for his part in Beyonce’s Brown Skin girl from her Lion King album. The official list of Nominees was released on Tuesday the 2nd of February 2021. It was posted on the NAACP official twitter page.
The award will be aired on the 28th of March, 2021 by 1am (West African Time).
Nigerian artist are really making Africa proud. Earlier in January, Burna Boy’s Destiny was added to American President Joe Biden’s Inauguration track list. What else can we say about Nigerians? Wherever we go we dominate.
