Early Life

Ayo Adesanya hails from Ijagun, a town in Ijebu, Ogun State, located in the southwestern region of Nigeria. She received her early education at St. Anne’s School in Ibadan, Oyo State, where she earned her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.

She later attended the University of Ibadan and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, which laid the foundation for her career in media and entertainment.

Career

Ayo Adesanya began her professional journey in 1986 after completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She officially joined Nollywood in 1992, debuting in the landmark film Living in Bondage.

Her performance opened doors to further opportunities, especially within the Yoruba-language film industry, where she has since starred, produced, and directed numerous successful films. Her fluency and skill in both English and Yoruba have allowed her to navigate and succeed across multiple segments of the Nigerian movie scene.Her work spans acting, directing, and producing, making her one of the most versatile and experienced talents in the industry.

Ayo Adesanya was previously married to Goriola Hassan, and although the marriage ended in separation, the union produced a son. She continues to remain active in Nollywood, maintaining her influence as a veteran actress and filmmaker.
