Early Life
Moyo Lawal was born and raised in Badagry, Lagos State. She completed her primary, secondary, and university education in Nigeria. With a passion for the arts, she pursued a degree in Creative Arts at the University of Lagos, where she nurtured her interest in performance and entertainment.
Despite the pressure surrounding motherhood in the entertainment industry, Moyo has openly expressed that she chose not to have children, citing the emotional and physical demands involved.
Career
Moyo Lawal began acting in small stage plays while still in school, encouraged by a friend to explore her creative talents. Although she participated in the Next Movie Star reality TV show, she didnโt win. Still, the experience helped sharpen her acting skills and exposed her to the industry.
She made her professional debut in the television series Shallow Waters, where she played the character Chioma. Her big break came when she joined the cast of the acclaimed TV series Tinsel, taking on the role of Chinny. Her performance earned her wider recognition and solidified her place in the industry.
In 2012, she received the Revelation of the Year award at the Best of Nollywood Awards, highlighting her rising influence in the film scene.
Moyo also made headlines when she survived an attempted armed robbery on Lagosโs Third Mainland Bridge. She publicly shared her experience, using the incident to advocate for improved security measures and raise public awareness.
Today, Moyo Lawal continues to act in films and television, building a brand known for confidence, resilience, and authenticity.
