Nollywood star Kate Henshaw has voiced her frustration over Nigeria’s electricity situation, calling the current tariff band system a “huge fraud.” Through a series of social media posts, the actress expressed outrage over paying for power she rarely receives.

According to Henshaw, her tariff band promises more than 20 hours of electricity daily. In reality, she barely gets two hours—even on a good day. She described the system as deeply flawed and exploitative, claiming it forces consumers to pay for a service that isn’t delivered.
“Paying for 20+ hours of power and barely getting two? That’s not inefficiency—that’s FRAUD,” she wrote bluntly.
In a separate post, she compared the electricity billing structure to a collapsed Ponzi scheme, saying, “This electricity fraud is bigger than the latest Ponzi crash.” Her words resonated with many Nigerians who face similar struggles and feel powerless under the current system.
Henshaw, known for her outspokenness on social issues, questioned the logic behind charging citizens based on promised power rather than actual consumption. Her public statements have sparked fresh conversations about the accountability of electricity providers and the failure to deliver reliable service despite steep tariffs.
As frustrations mount across the country, Henshaw’s bold remarks echo a broader public demand for reform in Nigeria’s power sector.
