Early Life
Chisom Obinna Onyeke, professionally known as JaySynths, was born on October 27, 1988, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. He began his academic journey at All Saints Primary School in Onitsha, before moving on to Government Secondary School in Karshi, Abuja. He later earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Abuja.
JaySynths showed a passion for music from an early age. At just four years old, he started playing instruments like the keyboard in his parents’ church. After relocating to Abuja with his family, he fully immersed himself in music production and eventually took up the role of music director for a local choir.
Career
JaySynths launched his professional music career with determination and quickly gained national attention in 2018 by producing Teni’s chart-topping hit “Case”. The single earned Best Pop Single at The Headies 2019. He went on to produce several other hit tracks including “Wait,” “Fake Jersey,” “Marry,” “Power Rangers,” and “Daz How Star Do” by Skiibii.
He pioneered Ojapiano, a genre that fuses the traditional Igbo flute Ọjà with South Africa’s Amapiano sound. As the first producer to craft this unique blend, JaySynths introduced a fresh wave in African music. In 2023, he also produced the official soundtrack for the Netflix hit film “Shanty Town.”
Beyond music, JaySynths shares a life with Christy Daniels, a former beauty queen he met during his university years. They are happily married and have one child.
