A UK court has granted American R&B singer Chris Brown a £5 million bail following allegations of an unprovoked bottle attack at a London nightclub in 2023. Prosecutors accused Brown of inflicting grievous bodily harm on music producer Abraham Diaw using a tequila bottle during the incident.

Although Chris Brown did not attend the Southwark Crown Court hearing, Judge Tony Baumgartner approved his bail, allowing the singer to continue his international tour, which includes UK dates in June and July. Brown has not yet entered a plea.
Under the bail conditions, Brown must surrender his passport when not traveling and reside at a court-approved address. He is also barred from contacting Diaw or applying for new international travel documents. Additionally, Brown cannot visit the nightclub where the alleged assault occurred.
The court stipulated that Brown must pay £4 million immediately to secure his release and deposit an additional £1 million within a week. This £5 million total serves as a financial guarantee to ensure compliance with his bail terms and court appearances.
Brown will appear next on June 20 alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old U.S. national, at the same court.
While the court has granted him the opportunity to continue his international tour, the serious nature of the charges underscores the gravity of the case.
