Ezekiel ThankGod, better known as Eezee Tee and famous for managing gospel star Mercy Chinwo, is currently entangled in a legal battle. The Lagos Division of the Federal High Court has moved the next hearing in his case to September 26, 2025.
The music executive and his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, are facing serious charges from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The case involves alleged foreign exchange malpractice and money laundering, with total funds linked to the case amounting to $397,106.
The matter was initially handled by Justice Owoeye but has since been reassigned to Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke. During the most recent hearing, EFCC’s lawyer, Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, introduced their first witness, Mohammed Timta.
According to the EFCC, one of the transactions in question took place in June 2023. In that deal, Eezee Tee allegedly exchanged over $52,000 with a third party without proper authorization from the Central Bank of Nigeria. This, they claim, violates Nigeria’s foreign exchange laws.
However, there may still be a peaceful resolution on the table. The defence counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), told the court they were close to reaching a settlement. He asked for more time, promising that if no agreement was reached, the trial would begin.
With the court granting the request, all eyes are now on the next hearing date to see how things unfold for the man behind one of Nigeria’s biggest gospel music brands.
