Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has opened up about her unexpected appearance in 2Baba’s legendary 2004 music video for African Queen. During a recent interview on Nollywood Radio, Jegede shared the backstory of how she initially turned down the offer before having a change of heart.

Jegede explained that the director contacted her the night before filming, but she bluntly refused, stating she wasn’t interested in doing music videos. At the time, she focused entirely on building her acting career and didn’t see how the role aligned with her goals.
Later that evening, while chatting with a friend, she mentioned the proposal. Her friend reacted with excitement, expressing his love for African Queen, which prompted her to reconsider. She immediately called the director back, received the shoot details, and prepared her look for the next morning.
When she arrived on set, Jegede met 2Baba formerly of the Plantashun Boiz—for the first time. She described the encounter as surreal but made it clear that the video role was a one-time decision, not a career move.
She later appeared in Djinee’s Ego video, which she described as a favor to a friend directing the project. Jegede nearly appeared in Style Plus’ Olufunmi but missed it due to traffic.
Reflecting on her journey, she emphasized her passion for acting, saying, “It has been fulfilling. I just wanted to act. That was always the goal.”
