Nigerian DJ Rachel Oluwabukola Martins, known as DJ Dimple Nipple, has shared a painful experience from her recent trip to Manila, Philippines. She said immigration officers treated her and her friend like criminals despite having valid visas and documents.
DJ Dimple Nipple explained that she was invited to perform in the Philippines and travelled with her best friend. They had their visas, return tickets, and were sponsored by CCMNL. But upon arrival, immigration officers were cold towards them.
“At least 30 officers surrounded us, some holding cameras. We were terrified,” she wrote.
She said they were detained and interrogated for hours even after showing all their documents. Sniffer dogs checked their bags and bodies twice, and officers filmed them while about 30 people surrounded them. They were not allowed to speak with their sponsors, who were waiting at the airport.

After hours of humiliation, they were told they would be denied entry without any official reason. The Nigerian Embassy tried to help but nothing changed. They spent the night in a cold detention-like room with other Nigerians and Africans. DJ Dimple Nipple said they slept on the floor with plastic bags and cartons to keep warm.
“We were racially profiled, humiliated, and treated like criminals.”
She called the experience traumatic, saying they were racially profiled and treated with no dignity. She also saw a Nigerian man there who had not seen sunlight in months.
DJ Dimple Nipple is now calling on the Nigerian government to protect its citizens abroad. She questioned why the Philippines grants visas to Nigerians only to reject them on arrival. Philippine authorities have not yet responded to her claims.
