Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has recently been involved in a heated controversy after being accused of breaking aviation rules. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) claimed that the 68-year-old musician carried alcohol on board a ValueJet flight from Abuja to Lagos, an act that goes against airline regulations. Following this, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) imposed a six-month ban on Kwam 1, while the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, warned that such behavior could have endangered the flight.

Kwam 1’s team also denied the allegations, clarifying that the flask only contained water. They dismissed claims that the singer disrupted the flight or blocked the aircraft from taking off as exaggerated and false. According to them, FAAN, NCAA, and ValueJet’s management eventually apologized after realizing their mistake and even offered a private jet to fly Kwam 1 to Lagos, which he declined.

The incident also led to the suspension of two ValueJet pilots as NCAA conducted further investigations. This aviation drama continues to generate discussions online, with many supporting Basirat’s defense of her father and questioning the actions of the aviation authorities.
