Nigerian rapper and songwriter Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, widely known as Vector, recently revealed how his music impacted someone’s mental health in a deeply meaningful way. During an interview on The Honest Bunch podcast, Vector shared that his song Early Momo, featuring Goodgirl LA, helped a psychiatric patient overcome depression.

Vector explained that after he released Early Momo, a psychiatric facility reached out to him, saying the track played a vital role in lifting a patient out of a depressive state. He described the moment as one of the most fulfilling experiences of his career, even though it had nothing to do with charts or commercial numbers.
“I didn’t plan for that impact, but it happened,” Vector said. “That’s a successful moment in someone’s life. Music should meet people where they are, emotionally.”
He also pointed out how certain songs gain traction during difficult times. For example, his track Mercy with Seyi Vibez often sees a spike in streams when people go through emotional struggles. “That tells me what they’re feeling,” he said. “Music should guide, comfort, and heal whether or not it tops a chart.”
Vector urged artists to focus on creating music with purpose, emphasizing that genuine success lies in the lives touched, not just in accolades or statistics.
