Nigerian music star Yemi Alade addressed long-standing speculation about a possible collaboration with Tiwa Savage and explained why the much-anticipated joint project might never happen. Speaking candidly, Yemi emphasized that, although she believes in women supporting women and has collaborated with several female artists, working with Tiwa Savage might not be realistic because fans and the media constantly create tension.
She stated, “I know that the fan-favourite collaboration is Tiwa Savage, but I’d rather stay clear; I don’t want problems in my life. There is no issue at all. Most fans and the media tend to stir waters that should remain still. There is literally no problem.”
Yemi’s comments revisit a history of rivalry rumors between the artists. In December 2018, they exchanged subtle jabs online after Yemi appeared to criticize female entertainers for editing their photos to appear more curvaceous. Although she did not mention names, her post appeared shortly after Tiwa Savage shared similar images on Instagram. Tiwa responded cryptically: “Don’t start a war you can’t finish.”
Despite the past tension, Yemi clarified that she holds no grudge against Tiwa and that she made her decision to maintain peace rather than fuel controversy.
Yemi Alade’s remarks highlight the pressure that fan rivalries and media narratives place on female artists. By choosing peace over conflict, she underscores the importance of mutual respect and the need for artists to express themselves freely without public interference or forced competition.
