Sweden and Chocolate City Group partner to strengthen Nigeria’s creative economy through music innovation, talent development, and digital collaboration across global markets.

The Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Anna Westerholm, has launched a new partnership with Chocolate City Group to strengthen creative, cultural, and digital collaboration between Sweden and Nigeria.

The initiative aims to deepen Nordic–African ties by focusing on music innovation, talent development, and digital growth within the global creative economy.

Ambassador Westerholm led a high-level delegation to Chocolate City’s office, where she met with senior executives, including Group CEO Abuchi Peter Ugwu and Executive Vice President Aibee Abidoye. The discussions focused on connecting Nigeria’s fast-growing music industry with Sweden’s global reputation in music technology and hitmaking.

The partnership will explore opportunities in digital platforms, touring infrastructure, and live performance networks. A major goal is to link African artists and songwriters with Swedish creative communities while expanding access to modern music education and talent development.

Ambassador Westerholm highlighted the long-term value of the collaboration.

“Sweden has a long history of music innovation, and we see immense value in collaborating with Africa’s vibrant creative industries. Meetings like this reinforce the potential for knowledge exchange, sustainable partnerships, and shared growth that benefits creators on both sides.”

Chocolate City Group is also expanding its infrastructure, with plans to launch a creative hub in Jos and introduce a “Founders Fund” later this year to support emerging entrepreneurs.

Aibee Abidoye said the partnership opens major opportunities for local growth.

“It is exciting to see the possibilities emerging from these discussions. Sweden has a well-established global reputation as a hub for pop music and hitmakers, and its interest in Chocolate City and African music more broadly holds strong potential to create impactful collaborations and contribute to the improvement of local creative infrastructure.”

Both parties ended the meeting with a shared commitment to explore digital revenue growth and touring partnerships that will benefit creators in both markets.
