The hit track “Golden” from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters made history on Sunday at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards held at the Crypto.com Arena.
The song from the animation Kpop Demon hunters won Best Song Written for Visual Media.
The victory was shared by songwriters and producers EJAE, Park Hong Jun, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, and Mark Sonnenblick. The track is performed by the film’s fictional girl group, HUNTR/X, with vocals by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami.

During the acceptance speech, the team emphasized the cultural impact of the achievement.
“This is more than just a win for a movie; it is a win for a genre that has been knocking on this door for a long time. To see K-pop recognized on this stage for its songwriting and artistry is a dream come true,” Sonnenblick said.
EJAE, who also voices the character Rumi in the film, explained the creative vision behind the song.
“We wanted to create something that felt authentically K-pop but also fit the high-stakes world of demon hunting. ‘Golden’ was about that inner light, and tonight, it’s shining very bright,” she said.
The soundtrack enjoyed a strong year, with “Golden” topping the Billboard Global charts. The production team said the goal was to create a song with worldwide appeal.
“The goal was to bridge the gap. We didn’t want to just make a ‘movie song’; we wanted to make a global K-pop anthem that could stand on its own in any arena,” they stated.
Industry analysts say the moment reflects a broader shift in how the genre is viewed globally.
“Winning Best Song Written for Visual Media feels like the perfect category because it acknowledges how the music drove the narrative of the film and connected with people who aren’t even traditional K-pop fans,” a team member added.
The track was also a finalist for Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Music Video.
