Legendury Beatz is a Nigerian record-producing and songwriting duo made up of brothers Uzezi Oniko and Okiemute Oniko, best known for their extensive production work with Wizkid, including his Grammy-nominated single ‘Essence.’

Uzezi, born February 17, 1986, and Okiemute, known as Mut4y and born May 27, 1989, spent their earliest years in Victoria Island, Lagos, before their parents’ divorce took the family to Sagamu, Ogun State. Uzezi later returned to Lagos to study Building Construction at the University of Lagos, where he was introduced to beatmaking by friends, before drawing his younger brother into the craft.

The duo founded Legendury Beatz in 2009, initially working on a system where they would produce a beat with a specific artist in mind and then try to connect with them through chance encounters at clubs and industry events. Their breakthrough came in less than a year when they produced ‘Azonto’ for Wizkid, a record that helped popularise the Ghanaian Azonto dance and drew international press attention to their sound.

Legendury Beatz went on to become one of Wizkid’s most consistent collaborators, producing standout records including ‘Ojuelegba,’ which won Song of the Year at the 2015 Headies, and later contributing to ‘Essence,’ the 2020 single that became a global crossover hit and earned the duo a Grammy nomination.

Beyond their work with Wizkid, the brothers have produced and written for a wide range of artists including 2Baba, Ice Prince, Banky W, Seyi Shay, and international acts such as Wale and Tinie Tempah, building a catalogue that spans Afrobeats, hip-hop, reggae fusion, and electro house across more than a decade of work.
