Edward Sunday is a Nigerian gospel music producer and sound engineer, founder of Azusa Productions, whose work has centred on shaping the sound of contemporary Nigerian gospel and worship music.
Born on October 30, 1973, in Ibadan, Nigeria, to Mr and Mrs Onokaya, Edward Sunday originates from Owan West Local Government Area in Edo State but grew up primarily in Lagos. He began his education at New Eden Primary School in Ibadan before continuing at the University of Ibadan Staff School, laying the groundwork for a career that would later blend technical training with a strong grounding in faith-based music.
Sunday founded Azusa Productions, a gospel-focused production house that has become associated with polished, contemporary Nigerian worship recordings, distinguishing itself within a gospel music scene that has grown significantly alongside Nigeria’s mainstream Afrobeats industry.
As a sound engineer and producer, Edward Sunday has built a career centred on technical precision within gospel music production, an often less visible but foundational corner of the Nigerian music industry that supports a large and dedicated audience across churches, streaming platforms, and gospel-specific charts.
His decades of work reflect the steady, faith-driven side of Nigerian music production, standing apart from the mainstream Afrobeats and street-pop scene while contributing to the broader technical standards of Nigerian recorded sound.
