LeriQ, born Eric Isaac Utere, is a Nigerian record producer and songwriter best known for his long-running production partnership with Burna Boy, spanning the artist’s entire rise from breakout newcomer to Grammy-winning global star.

The firstborn of six boys, LeriQ was born in Rivers State but hails from Akwa Ibom State. He began producing at the age of 13, citing his love of art, an interest in musical sound, and the influence of his father, a stage designer and artist, alongside his brothers, one a video director and another a singer and dancer.

LeriQ achieved his breakthrough with Burna Boy’s 2012 single ‘Like to Party,’ before going on to produce the singer’s debut studio album L.I.F.E – Leaving an Impact for Eternity in 2013, a project that established the early foundation of Burna Boy’s sound. In July 2015, he signed a deal with Sony Music West Africa, formalising his standing as one of the industry’s leading producers.

LeriQ’s most significant recognition came with his production work on Burna Boy’s 2020 album Twice as Tall, which won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album at the 63rd ceremony, cementing his reputation as one of the architects behind Nigeria’s biggest international crossover success stories.

He released his own producer album, The Lost Sounds, in 2015, and is currently signed to Spaceship Records through Spaceship Collective, continuing his close collaboration with Burna Boy’s broader creative and business operations.
