Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan has publicly apologized after facing heavy backlash over comments supporting Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The actor shared a video on 6 days ago. In the clip, he appeared on his knees while asking Nigerians for forgiveness.

The controversy began after his March 15 interview on JUJU TV. During the interview, Afolayan praised the government and spoke about his personal comfort despite national challenges.

“When people say the country is hard, I don’t really care because I’m doing very well.”

Aremu Afolayan also made remarks about insecurity that many viewers found dismissive.

“When you watch the news about insurgency, don’t mind them, it’s all scripted.”

The statements quickly triggered outrage online. Many Nigerians accused him of being disconnected from the realities of inflation and insecurity.

In response, Afolayan released an emotional apology video. He admitted that the backlash had deeply affected him.

“To all Nigerians, please forgive me. I’m very sorry. The curses you guys are raining on me are too much.”

He also expressed himself in Yoruba while describing the pressure he faced.

“Epe yi po.”

The actor denied claims that he was paid to support the government.

“I didn’t take money from anyone.”

He further tried to clarify his earlier comments on insecurity. According to him, someone close to him had recently experienced kidnapping.

“How would I say there’s no insecurity?”

Afolayan said his earlier statement was misunderstood. He explained that he meant to criticize people who deny insecurity, not dismiss it.

He ended by announcing that he would step away from political discussions. While some fans have accepted his apology, others remain unconvinced.
