Early Life

Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Oyinlola Adefolahan on 5 February 1996, hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He grew up as a member of his church choir, which sparked his interest in music.

Fireboy attended Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. While in school, he developed his musical skills and later moved to Lagos to pursue music as a full-time career.

Career And Achievements

Fireboy DML gained recognition with his breakthrough single, Jealous, which initially appeared on the 2018 album YBNL Mafia Family.

Released as a solo single in March 2019, Jealous blended guitar riffs, traditional drums, and African harmonies with elements of country and soul music. The song became a huge hit, with its music video directed by Director K.

In June 2019, Fireboy released What If I Say, a ballad produced by Pheelz that showcased a mix of percussion, ambient synths, and catchy riffs. In August 2019, he dropped King, a track that highlighted his worth in a relationship, accompanied by a stunning music video directed by TG Omori.

His debut studio album, Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps (LTG), arrived in November 2019, showcasing a mix of R&B with love and social issues in its 13 tracks.

The album received critical acclaim and amassed millions of streams, with Vibration being a fan favorite.

Fireboy’s second studio album, Apollo, dropped in 2020 and earned positive reviews for its melodious pop and R&B style. In 2021, Peru became a standout hit, leading to a successful remix with Ed Sheeran, which charted on both the US and UK charts.

Fireboy’s third studio album, Playboy, was released in 2022, followed by his highly anticipated fourth album, Adedamola, in 2024. The album features collaborations with artists like Lagbaja and Jon Batiste.
