Early Life

Juma Jux, born on 1st September 1989 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, discovered his passion for music at the age of 16, initially rapping for friends and peers. In 2008, he signed with Tanzanian record label A.M Records, transitioning from rap to R&B. He quickly made a name for himself, releasing hit songs like “Sugua” featuring Diamond Platnumz, “Juu” with Vanessa Mdee, and “Regina” alongside Otile Brown.

Career

Jux has earned numerous accolades throughout his career. He claimed the ‘Best R&B Song’ award at the Kili Music Awards in 2015 and won the Best East African Music Video award at the Zanzibar International Film Festival in 2017. His talent has earned him multiple nominations, including ‘Best Male East Africa’ at the AFRIMMA awards in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he graced the stage at Coke Studio Africa, further solidifying his influence in the music scene.

Juma Jux music has occasionally sparked controversy, like when his 2018 hit “Uzuri Wako” was banned by the Tanzanian Communications Regulatory Authority for being deemed “immoral.” Despite this, he released his debut album The Love Album in 2019, featuring collaborations with Singah, Diamond Platnumz, and Vanessa Mdee. His second album, King of Hearts, followed in 2022, with appearances from Zuchu, Marioo, Mbosso, Terri, and Bien.

In 2023, Jux once again made waves with his collaboration with Diamond Platnumz on the track “Enjoy,” blending Bongo Flava and Amapiano. While the song received mixed reviews and was removed due to a copyright issue, Jux’s impact on Tanzanian music remained undeniable.

On the personal side, Jux’s relationship with Vanessa Mdee attracted widespread attention. They toured together and released music before breaking up in 2019 amid infidelity rumors. In early 2023, Jux confirmed his relationship with socialite Karen Bujulu and proposed to Priscilla Ojo in August 2024. The couple married in April 2025.
