Early Life

Reekado Banks, the last-born child in a family passionate about music, was raised in a disciplinarian environment by his mother, a caterer and pastor, and his father, a clergyman from Ondo State.

He completed secondary school at just 14 years old and began recording music in 2008.

His older brother, Temi Solomon, played a crucial role in his musical journey, teaching him the essentials of writing, singing, and producing.

Despite not initially consenting to the submission, he expressed gratitude to his brother for taking the initiative on his behalf.

Over the next year, Banks collaborated with the same artists on tracks like “Adaobi,” “Arise,” and “Looku Looku.”

Career

Banks made headlines again in February 2015 with the release of Katapot, a Don Jazzy-produced single that was rumored to be a diss track aimed at D’banj and Wande Coal.

Don Jazzy later debunked the rumors, but in an interview with Vanguard, Banks explained that he created Katapot specifically for his fans.

In July 2015, Reekado Banks signed an endorsement deal with the Nigerian cellular provider Globacom. On December 7, 2018, he announced his exit from Mavin Records and launched his own label, Banks Music.

In 2019, Banks made headlines again when he parted ways with his older brother as his manager.
