Early Life

Tope Alabi, born Patricia Temitope Alabi on October 27, 1970, in Lagos State, Nigeria, is one of the leading gospel musicians in Nigeria. She hails from a Yoruba family and has had a profound connection with spirituality from an early age. Tope attended the University of Lagos. where she studied Theatre Arts, and developed a strong passion for music and performance.

Her interest in music was heightened when she became involved in the Yoruba traditional music scene. She initially started her career as an actress, appearing in Yoruba movies, before transitioning to music. Tope’s background in the performing arts allowed her to connect deeply with her audience, especially through her unique and emotionally charged voice.

Tope Alabi is best known for her contributions to gospel and inspirational music, particularly in the Yoruba language. She has blended traditional Yoruba sounds with contemporary gospel, creating a distinctive style that has earned her a massive following.
