Anthony Ebuka Victor, professionally known as Victony, is a rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. Born on January 5, 2001, in Ojo, Lagos, and hailing from Imo State, Victony grew up surrounded by musical influences, particularly artists like Davido, Wizkid, MI, and Falz. He began his music career in 2016 as a rapper on SoundCloud, where he initially gained attention through freestyle performances and mixes. In August 2020, he dropped his debut studio album, Saturn, marking his entry into the Nigerian music scene.
Career
Starting in 2016, Victony took to SoundCloud to showcase his rap skills, dropping freestyles and mixtapes that began to catch the attention of listeners. His first big break also came in 2020 with his debut studio album Saturn, followed by the release of his standout track “Ina Benz,” marking his entrance into the mainstream.
Victony’s 2021 single “Holy Father” with Mayorkun elevated his career even further, topping the charts and garnering significant recognition. However, it was his 2022 hit “Soweto,” featuring Tempoe, that solidified his place in the Afrobeats scene. The track went viral on TikTok, and a remix featuring Rema and Don Toliver earned global success, charting in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada.
In 2024, Victony released his second studio album, Stubborn, a critical success that demonstrated his artistic growth. The album blends Afrobeats, hip-hop, and R&B, delving into themes of love, identity, and resilience. With collaborations from top artists like Saint Jhn, Shallipopi, Asake, and Teezo Touchdown, Stubborn has received praise for its experimental sound and lyrical depth.
