Winny, born Winifred Ohili Adanu, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter known for her smooth blend of reggae, R&B, and Afropop. She was born in Benue State and raised in Jos, where she began exploring music in 2014. Influenced by Jamaican stars like Chronixx and Kranium, as well as Nigerian artist Wizkid, she developed a unique style that stands out in the growing Nigerian music scene.

Career

Winny officially launched her professional career in November 2022 with the release of her debut single Pretty. The track, which fused Afrobeat with R&B, received positive feedback and marked the beginning of her rise. Consequently, she started gaining recognition both locally and internationally.

In 2023, Apple Music selected Winny for its Up Next Nigeria artist development program, which highlights emerging talent. This recognition further elevated her profile and introduced her to a wider audience. That same year, she released her self-titled debut EP, Winny, which included standout songs like “Don’t Leave.” Notably, the track charted in the Top 200 Apple Music R&B/Soul charts across Nigeria, Kenya, Congo, and Gambia.

In 2024, she continued her upward trajectory with the release of her second project, Commercial Break. Through this project, she showcased deeper lyrical growth and a matured sound, all while maintaining her signature fusion of genres.
