BON Awards 2025: Farmers Bride and Seven Doors Dominate 17th Edition in Lagos
The 17th Best of Nollywood Awards took place on Sunday night in Lagos. The event celebrated excellence across Nigeria’s thriving film industry.
Farmers Bride emerged as the biggest winner of the night. The film won Movie of the Year at the prestigious ceremony. It also secured Director of the Year at the National Arts Theatre.
Meanwhile, Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors dominated the technical categories. The series won Best Production Design at the awards. It also claimed Best Special Effect, Best Series, and Best Cinematography.
These multiple wins highlighted Nollywood’s growing focus on technical excellence. They also reflected the industry’s push toward world-class production standards.
Acting honours came from the film Black Out. Gideon Okeke won Best Actor for his performance. Padita Agu also earned Best Actress for her role.
In the supporting categories, Mercy Aigbe took Best Supporting Actress. She won for her role in My Mother Is a Witch. Taye Ayimoro claimed Best Supporting Actor for Son of the Soil.
Tobi Bakre and Folu Storms won Best Kiss. The award recognised their on-screen chemistry in Red Cycle.
Additionally, Abanisete won Best Indigenous Film. The win underscored the relevance of culturally rooted storytelling in Nigerian cinema.
The ceremony also celebrated emerging talents. Razaq Adoti won Most Promising Actor. Una Idoko received Most Promising Actress.
Special Recognition Awards went to industry veterans. Honourees included Steve Ayorinde, Funke Akindele, and Dr Shaibu Husseini. The awards recognised their lasting contributions to Nollywood.
Overall, the BON Awards showcased Nollywood’s creative depth. The event honoured performers, filmmakers, and professionals shaping its global future.
