Nigerian streamer and skitmaker Caterefe has opened up about the tragic death of his father. He shared the painful story during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast.
According to Caterefe, his father was a police officer. He was killed by armed robbers dressed in military camouflage in Ogun State. The incident happened while his father was returning home from duty.
Caterefe explained that his father entered a police van heading toward a bus stop near their house. However, the van ran into heavy traffic caused by an ongoing robbery operation on the highway. The officers reportedly stepped out of the vehicle to assess the situation.
He recounted the moment, saying:
“My dad had closed from duty and was heading home but he decided to enter the police van to the nearest bus-stop to our house, we were saying at Ogun State then. However, they ran into a gridlock and some men in military camouflage were robbing. My dad and his colleagues alighted from the van to check what was going but immediately the robbers spotted them in police uniform, they opened fire on them.”
The skitmaker added that the trauma deepened due to media coverage of the incident. He revealed that he saw footage of the aftermath online.
In his words:
“My dad is on YouTube, I saw my dad’s lifeless body on the ground with police uniform.”
Despite the painful experience, Caterefe said he has remained focused on his career. He stressed that the loss shaped his resilience and determination.
