Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has debunked viral reports claiming that Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere is her biological father.

The actress addressed the rumors in a video shared on her Instagram page on Monday, March 23, 2026. She described the claims as false and expressed frustration over how quickly the story spread online.

The controversy began over the weekend. Several blogs alleged that Shokoya had “cried out” about a secret biological link to the Fuji star. However, she firmly denied the claim and clarified that she has never met Obesere.

“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica?”

Debbie Shokoya stressed that the reports are entirely untrue. She urged bloggers and social media users to stop spreading misinformation.

“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said.”

The actress also spoke about the negative effects of the rumor. According to her, the false claims led to online harassment and unnecessary criticism.

“Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses.”

She concluded by calling on media platforms to correct the narrative with the same urgency used to publish the initial story.

“I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Please stop spreading false news. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception.”

As of press time, Obesere has not reacted publicly to the situation.
