Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr. P, has admitted before a Lagos High Court that he is a co-signatory to the Northside Entertainment Limited bank account. This statement contradicts his earlier claim that his elder brother, Jude Okoye, was the sole operator of the account.
The revelation came during the resumed trial of Jude Okoye. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged him with four counts of alleged $1 million theft.
During cross-examination, defense counsel Clement Onwuewunor (SAN) presented bank mandates from Ecobank Nigeria. The documents listed Peter Okoye and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, as signatories to the account.
Peter then admitted:
“My Lord, Northside Entertainment Limited account in Ecobank — I am a co-signatory.”
However, he explained that although he was later added to the account, he did not actively operate it.
“Despite that, I never personally signed cheques or carried out transactions.”
Jude Okoye has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Meanwhile, the defense argued that Peter’s claims remain inconsistent. Onwuewunor accused him of misleading the court.
“Peter’s testimony before the EFCC is riddled with lies and misrepresentations.”
Paul Okoye has also weighed in on the matter. He publicly supported Jude and blamed Peter for the legal troubles.
“Peter is the one putting Jude through these things… He is putting him in prison, and I’m here to bring him out.”
He further defended the business structure of the group.
“If Jude is guilty of this alleged crime, then Peter is also guilty, and so am I.”
Despite the controversy, Peter insists the legal action aims to recover diverted royalties.
“The catalogue is the collection of songs we produced over the years. We all started together as students… The success of P-Square was built by me and my twin brother from the beginning.”
Justice Rahman Oshodi adjourned the case until May 15, 2026.
