Robert Pattinson has officially joined the cast of Dune: Part Three. His casting reportedly came after a recommendation from Zendaya.
The announcement was made during a trailer launch event on March 16, 2026. Pattinson confirmed he will play the character Scytale in the film.
The opportunity began on the set of The Drama, where Robert Pattinson and Zendaya worked together. During filming, he asked how he could join the Dune franchise.
“How do I get into one of those Dune movies?”
Zendaya responded with a simple but important connection.
“I know a guy.”
She was referring to director Denis Villeneuve. Shortly after, Pattinson received a call that changed everything.
“I got a call from Denis like two months later. I always thought you had something to do with it.”
Pattinson described his new role as complex and unpredictable. He explained that Scytale is not easy to define.
“You don’t know if he’s on anyone’s side. He might even be a good guy.”
Zendaya will return as Chani in the film. She reflected on her long journey with the franchise.
“I’ve literally been able to grow up in my entire 20s doing them, and so they have such a special place in my heart.”
She also spoke about the bond between the cast and director.
“It has been a really beautiful thing to watch us all grow together.”
The film is set 17 years after the previous installment. It will also feature returning stars like Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh. New additions include Anya Taylor-Joy.
Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
