The social media conflict between Afrobeat stars Seun Kuti and Wizkid escalated on Wednesday after Kuti responded to alleged insults aimed at his wife, Yetunde Kuti.
During a recent livestream, Seun Kuti criticized Wizkid for involving family members in their professional disagreement. The feud reportedly intensified after Wizkid called Kuti’s wife “ugly” during an online spat. This exchange followed Kuti’s repeated critiques of Wizkid’s musical legacy.
“Real men don’t involve women and kids in their beef.
Wizkid that has an old woman as a partner is insulting my wife,” Kuti stated, referencing Wizkid’s partner and manager, Jada Pollock.
“You are calling my wife ugly, should I be doing that with you and be insulting your wife?”
Kuti also claimed that Wizkid’s fanbase has extended harassment to his daughter’s social media pages. Despite this, he insisted that online attacks would not break him.
“Your fans are insulting my wife and kid.
They are all over my kid’s page.
But all that can’t break me.
I want my child to experience what I experienced so that she can be strong like me,” Kuti added.
Beyond the personal insults, Seun Kuti questioned Wizkid’s mental state and consistency as a brand, suggesting the singer is undergoing an identity crisis.
“I know you are depressed fam.
What you need to do Wizkid is to rediscover yourself, to become Wiz, Kid, or Big Wiz…
You don’t have identity – is it Big Wiz? Is it Wizkid? Is it Biggest bird?
Na me you still copy,” Kuti claimed.
The feud, which has dominated entertainment headlines for weeks, stems from long-standing debates over Afrobeat commercialization and comparisons to Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s legacy. Wizkid has not yet responded to Kuti’s latest remarks.
