Fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola and award-winning singer Mr Eazi have opened up about the intense pressure and disagreements they experienced while planning their weddings, explaining why they ultimately decided not to hold their court wedding in Nigeria.
Speaking during a recent podcast conversation, the couple revealed that they organized three wedding ceremonies across three different countries within just three months. They described the experience as emotionally and physically exhausting, noting that the constant flow of events made the planning process far more demanding than they had anticipated.
According to Temi, their initial plan was to have a simple and quiet court wedding in Nigeria. However, they soon realized that achieving privacy would be nearly impossible. Given their public profiles, even a low-key civil ceremony could easily attract attention, media interest, and uninvited spectators. This realization forced them to reconsider their plans.
The couple then explored the idea of having court officials conduct the civil ceremony privately in their living room. While Temi was comfortable with the arrangement, Mr Eazi expressed reservations, leading to differing opinions between them. They also considered hosting the court wedding in the United Kingdom, but Temi felt the option lacked emotional connection and personal meaning.
After weighing all alternatives, they agreed on Monaco as the location for their civil wedding. Temi explained that the destination felt more intentional and symbolic for both of them. She also admitted that she initially underestimated the complexity of marriage arrangements, believing it involved only a simple decision and paperwork. Instead, she discovered that the process required extensive documentation, planning, and coordination.
In addition to their civil ceremony, the couple also held a private wedding at Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland, away from public attention.
