Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has opened up about why his previous romantic relationships failed, admitting that he once placed too much importance on financial provision while neglecting emotional availability.
In an interview with Jay On-Air TV, the 38-year-old actor revealed that he used to believe wealth was the most important thing a man could offer in a relationship. He said this mindset cost him a partner he considered his soulmate, who later married someone else.
“I still think money is important, but what I realise now is that money is just one out of many things that matter,” Egbuson said.
Timini Egbuson attributed the breakdown of his past relationship to what he described as a selfish mindset and a demanding work schedule that left little room for emotional and physical presence.
“If all you can bring to a relationship is money, then you’re a very shallow man,” he added.
Egbuson also pointed to poor communication as a major factor in his past relationships.
“Communication was the biggest issue in my past relationship,” he stated.
He explained that in cities like Lagos, where many people are financially independent, money alone no longer holds the same value in romantic partnerships. Instead, he said partners now prioritize emotional support, active listening, and remembering small but meaningful details.
Reflecting on his personal growth, the actor said he is now focused on “showing up” and being emotionally available. He also addressed public perceptions about his lifestyle.
“A lot of people assume that I’m a womaniser, but I’m not. In the past two to three years, Nollywood has taken over my life,” he clarified.
