Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has urged Nigerians to support a presidential candidate from the South-East in the next election. He believes the region deserves a chance to lead the country in the spirit of fairness, balance, and national unity.

Edochie, who has consistently backed President Bola Tinubu’s administration, surprised many by openly advocating for a shift in political leadership. Despite encouraging Nigerians to remain patient with Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms, he emphasized that the South-East should take the helm in the next electoral cycle.
He declared, “The next President of Nigeria should come from the South-East in fairness and equity. That’s just the truth, and that’s how it should be.”
Edochie’s statement adds fuel to the growing conversation around zoning and regional representation in Nigerian politics. Many from the South-East have long argued that the region has remained politically marginalized, especially at the presidential level.
The actor’s remarks highlight the growing demand for political inclusion and a balanced power structure across Nigeria’s diverse regions. While Edochie maintains his loyalty to the current government, he made it clear that national unity requires giving every region a fair opportunity to lead.
Known for mixing politics with his public persona, Yul has also increasingly used his platform to voice opinions on national issues, often stirring debate among fans and political watchers alike. His latest call adds a new dimension to the political discourse as Nigeria prepares for the next presidential election cycle.
