Early Life
Elvina Esewvre Ibru, born on 22nd may 1972, into the prominent Ibru family, is the daughter of Nigerian industrialist Michael Ibru. She pursued her passion for performance and diplomacy by attending the London Academy of Performing Arts. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Webster University at Regent’s Park, London.
Career
Elvina began her career with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a broadcaster while also acting in stage productions across the UK. Upon returning to Nigeria, she became a familiar voice on Classic FM, where she hosted the widely appreciated radio show Mellow Magic.
Her breakthrough acting role came as Mopelola Holloway in the hit film The Bling Lagosians. She has since appeared in notable films such as Theo’s Dora and Letter to a Stranger, and plays the role of Atigbi in the Africa Magic series Riona.
Expanding her creative portfolio, Elvina launched her own production company, Twice As Nice, under which she produced the movie Cajoling.
A single mother to her son Elisha, Elvina openly expresses her views on womanhood, asserting that marriage in Nigeria often disadvantages women. She also shared her personal experience as a survivor of a violent assault in 2004. In response, she established an advocacy group to support victims of rape, using her platform to break stigmas and promote justice.
Elvina Ibru also blends creative talent, fearless advocacy, and personal strength. As a bold voice in entertainment and a champion for women’s rights, she continues to inspire with her honesty and determination.
