Tonto Dikeh, born on 9 June 1985, is a renowned Nigerian actress, singer, songwriter, and philanthropist. She gained recognition in Nollywood for her bold and diverse film roles, including her appearance in the controversial movie Dirty Secret, which sparked mixed reactions due to its adult content.
Career
Tonto Dikeh continued to prove her versatility by transitioning into music, releasing singles like โHiโ and โItz Ovaโ featuring Snypa. She later joined DB Records under Dโbanj in 2014 and left the label in 2015 to pursue independent projects.
Over the years, Tonto expanded her influence beyond entertainment. She became an ambassador for several high-profile brands including Numatville, Pels International, Sapphire Scents, and Zikel Cosmetics. She was also endorsed by Amstel Malta and partnered with NAPTIP as a voice against human trafficking.
Born into a family of seven, Tonto is the third of five children. She hails from Obio-Akpor in Rivers State and belongs to the Ikwerre ethnic group. She lost her mother at a young age and was raised by her stepmother. Tonto studied petrochemical engineering at Rivers State University. Despite her publicized personal life, including legal disputes with her ex-fiancรฉ, she continues to focus on her career and advocacy work.
On 27 August 2000, she founded the Tonto Dikeh Foundation, aimed at supporting women, children, and the underprivileged. In June 2022, she entered politics as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2023 Rivers State elections under the African Democratic Congress.
