Early Life

Uzee Usman is of Yoruba descent and hails from Kwara State. He was born and raised in Kaduna, Kaduna State. He holds dual degrees in Political Science and English Language from the University of Abuja.

In recognition of his contributions to the media and film industry, Iheris University in Togo awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Media and Communications Studies. He also studied Special Effects in South Africa, further refining his creative skills.

Career

Uzee Usman began his career in 2003 as a makeup artist. By 2013, he had transitioned into filmmaking, producing several award-winning titles in both Kannywood and Nollywood.

His film Oga Abuja also won Best Hausa Movie of the Year at the 2013 City People Entertainment Awards. In 2014, his film Maja earned Best Film of the Year (Kannywood) and also secured a nomination for Best Picture at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In 2021, Uzee Usman also received an honorary doctorate, affirming his influence in African media. In May 2023, TAJBank named him as their brand ambassador, recognizing his broad appeal and professional integrity.
