Afrobeats superstar Davido is a man on a mission. Currently on his “5IVE Alive” North American tour, the OBO recently sat down with NoireTV-GlobalblackTV to talk about his incredible journey, from his sold-out shows to his highly anticipated white wedding in Miami.
The tour, which kicked off in July, has been a major success, and Davido is humbled by the experience. Having grown up between Nigeria and the U.S., he’s seen both sides of the world and is amazed by the global acceptance of Afrobeats. “Just to see the acceptance of our culture, not only the concerts, but other things like fashion, the restaurant etc. Just seeing the culture being accepted commercially is amazing to see,” he said.

He also opened up about his upcoming wedding to Chioma(recently concluded), clarifying that this isn’t his second ceremony, but actually his third! “We did the court wedding before the traditional wedding, then we are about to do the White wedding,” he explained. The ceremony, which is bringing friends and family from Nigeria to the U.S., is a culmination of a busy but incredible period in his life. “It’s a good moment in life,” he shared, adding that everyone is really going to have fun.
Davido also gave a glimpse into what’s next for him and Chioma. After the wedding and tour, he revealed, “I’m going to definitely take a break, chill with the family, we are moving to a bigger crib.” It’s a huge step for the couple as they begin their new life as husband and wife. As for his career, he has big plans after the tour and wedding, including an African stadium tour, a new documentary, and a movie he’s executive producing.
