Afrobeats sensation Davido has opened up about the pivotal moment that transformed his music career—meeting Chris Brown.
In a recent interview on the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, Davido described the encounter as life-changing. He revealed that his introduction to the R&B star came through a mutual Nigerian friend in 2018.
“One day, I got a FaceTime call and my song was playing in the background,” He shared. “When I asked where he was, he said, ‘Chris Brown’s house.’ Then he turned the camera and I saw Chris dancing to my song. That was wild.”
Chris Brown soon took the phone and spoke with Davido for the first time. A few months later, the two met in the U.S., and their bond grew naturally from that moment. “From the first time we met, we just clicked and became friends,” Davido added.
The singer also discussed his friendship with controversial Nigerian socialite Hushpuppi, currently serving time in the U.S. for fraud-related crimes. Davido acknowledged the challenges in Nigeria that push some toward desperate decisions. “The hardship is real. Some people just want to enjoy life for a few years and don’t care what happens after,” he said.
