Nollywood star Halima Abubakar has spoken out about her ongoing health struggles. Known for her award-winning performances and long-standing career, the actress has been battling a serious illness that has kept her away from the movie scene for almost six years.
The actress revealed that her condition became so difficult that she had to step away from the spotlight. Even more heartbreaking, she said people she once trusted abandoned her at her lowest point. “I took ill, spent hugely on medication while my trusted friends deserted me,” she said in a recent interview.

Halima Abubakar shared that she eventually made a video in February 2025, asking the public for support. “I struggled before I came on live video… I do not want to die,” she added. She also pleaded with fans to ignore photos of her on social media, noting that they do not reflect her current condition.
The situation became so dire that she had to leave the city and relocate to her village. “It got so bad I had to relocate to the village, but has come back to take care of myself,” she explained. Despite the challenges, she is determined to get better and return to doing what she loves.
Halima is now calling on well-meaning Nigerians and especially Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, to support her recovery journey. Her fans have continued to show concern and are praying for her healing.
As she fights to regain her health, Halima remains hopeful. Her strength and openness remind everyone that even public figures go through tough times and sometimes need help to find their way back.
