Florida-based startup iPolish revealed its latest beauty-tech innovation at CES 2026 in Las Vegas: app-controlled, color-changing press-on nails. The product allows users to switch between more than 400 shades in about five seconds. This eliminates the need for traditional nail polish, removers, or frequent salon visits. The launch has already attracted attention from tech and beauty enthusiasts.
The nails use electrophoretic nanopolymer technology, which works similarly to e-ink displays in devices like Kindle e-readers. This allows reversible, low-power color changes without using chemicals. Users apply the acrylic press-on nails like standard ones. A companion smartphone app, currently compatible with iPhone, lets users select colors from a wide palette. The “Magic Wand” charging device sends a micro-voltage pulse to each nail. This triggers instant color changes with a simple touch.
During live demonstrations, iPolish showcased smooth transformations, such as switching from neutral beige for work to vibrant red for evening events. Lance Littell, Senior Vice President of Business Development at iPolish, highlighted the convenience. He said users can adjust their manicure to match outfits, moods, or events on demand. The nails are waterproof, non-toxic, cruelty-free, and designed to last as long as regular press-ons, typically one to two weeks until natural nail growth requires replacement.
The starter kit costs $95. It includes multiple nail sets in popular shapes such as Ballerinas and Sqovals, the activation wand, adhesive, prep tools, and app access. Pre-orders are open now, with shipping expected around June 2026. Individual replacement nails are priced at approximately $6.50 each.
While iPolish’s smart nails are being considered a potential disruptor in the beauty industry, questions remain about real-world durability and performance. This includes resistance to hand-washing and general wear. The company has tested the product, but practical feedback will come from users. This launch represents a step in merging wearable tech with fashion, positioning iPolish as a pioneer in digital beauty accessories.
