Nigerian comedian and actor Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, publicly denounced a false rape allegation circulating on social media. A user accused him of raping a 17-year-old girl and claimed that he used the police to oppress the victim’s family.
In response, Mr Macaroni identified the accuser as a supporter of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that he has faced similar false attacks whenever he criticizes the government.
Mr Macaroni stated that he usually ignores baseless online claims but felt compelled to respond due to the gravity of the allegation. He condemned using false rape accusations as political propaganda, stressing that sane individuals should never weaponize such claims against someone holding the government accountable.
He investigated the accuser’s profile and found consistent behavior praising the government while attacking critics. Mr Macaroni warned that failing to confront such individuals allows their harmful influence to spread.
Through his statement, he strongly refuted the allegation and reaffirmed his commitment to activism and social accountability. He also called on followers to provide information to take further action against the accuser.
