Early life Education

Ali Nuhu Mohammed was born in Maiduguri, Borno State, in northeastern Nigeria. His father, Nuhu Poloma, came from Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, while his mother, Fatima Karderam Digema, hailed from Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. He grew up in Kano and attended Dawakin Tofa Science College. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Jos and completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He pursued further training in filmmaking, completing courses at the Asian Academy of Film and Television in Noida, India, Transmedia Storytelling at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and Acting for the Camera at Los Angeles Center Studios with Relativity Education.

Career

Ali Nuhu has featured in over 500 films across Nollywood and Kannywood and has won numerous awards. Many consider him one of the most influential and accomplished actors in the history of Hausa and Nigerian cinema. His reach in terms of audience, industry size, and income has made him the most successful Hausa film actor globally.

Ali Nuhu made his acting debut in 1999 with the film Abin Sirri Ne. He gained widespread recognition for his performance in Sangaya, one of the highest-grossing Hausa films of its time. Over the years, he starred in several successful films including Azal, Jarumin Maza, and Sitanda, for which he won Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007.

In 2019, Ali Nuhu marked two decades in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning over 500 films, he remains a central figure in both Nollywood and Kannywood.
