Early Life
Belinda Effah began her education at Hillside International Nursery & Primary School and later attended Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt. During her time in secondary school, she adopted the name Belinda, encouraged by her brother, who suggested a name change for all siblings. She went on to study Genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Calabar.
In a later interview, she credited her fatherโs firm guidance as a significant influence that helped shape her ambition and career direction.
Career
Belinda Effah launched her acting career in 2005 with her debut role in the television series Shallow Waters. She briefly stepped away from the show to participate in the reality competition Next Movie Star, where she finished in 5th place without facing eviction.
She also expanded her career by working as a television presenter on Sound City, a popular Nigerian entertainment cable channel. After gaining experience, she moved on to create and host her own program, Lunch Break with Belinda, showcasing her passion for media and communication.
Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish GCB Empire, a Nigerian fashion and clothing brand where she serves as CEO and founder.
In 2022, her achievements gained international recognition when artist Ikรฉ Udรฉ featured her portrait in the Nollywood Portraits exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art.
Throughout her career, she has also earned six awards, including the prestigious Most Promising Act of the Year at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards. After a personal spiritual transformation, she changed her name to Grace-Charis Bassey, reflecting a renewed sense of purpose and identity.
