Early Life
Esther Ene Audu was born on March 22, 1982, in Ikeja, Lagos, into a family of six children. Her father, Mr. James Audu, served in the military and was stationed at Ikeja Military Cantonment, where Esther spent her early years. Originally from Olamaboro in Kogi State, she completed her primary and junior secondary education in Lagos.
In 2002, her family relocated to Abuja, where she completed her secondary schooling. She gained admission to the University of Jos in 2006 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2010. Esther is married to Philip Ojire, a video director.
Career
Esther Audu discovered her passion for acting during her secondary school years, where she actively took part in Drama and Literary clubs. Initially, she dreamed of becoming a newscaster. However, her path changed in 1996 when she represented Nigeria at Kidafest in Ghana. That pivotal experience ignited her commitment to pursue acting professionally.
Soon after, she began her acting career with lead roles in Ungodly Romance and Sins of Rachael, both directed by Alex Mouth in Jos. These early performances earned her recognition and helped her establish a strong presence in Nollywood.
While still at university, Esther continued to grow her career by taking on a sub-lead role in Fatal Mistake, directed by Norbert Ajagu. Over time, she gained wider popularity through her roles in films such as Inikpi, Dinner (2016), Mystified (2017), and Order of the Ring (2013).
