Early Life
Joke Silva was Born in Lagos into a prominent family, Joke Silva attended Holy Child College and later studied English at the University of Lagos.
She refined her acting skills at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her parents initially resisted her career path but later supported her success in the arts.
Career
Silva began acting in the early 1990s, appearing in both English and Yoruba films. She starred in notable titles like Violator, 30 Days, Phone Swap, and The Kingmaker.
In 2012, the UN appointed her as a goodwill ambassador to fight human trafficking in Nigeria. She also curated projects for the Bank of Industry and the 2012 London Olympics.
Silva married Olu Jacobs in 1981, and they have two children. In 2020, she led campaigns for ailing actors and later joined the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team in 2022. She continues to champion womenโs empowerment and creative arts in Nigeria.
Silva co-founded the Lufodo Group with her husband, Olu Jacobs. The group includes a production company, distribution arms, and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts, where she serves as Director of Studies. She also became the pioneer managing director of Malete Film Village in partnership with Kwara State University.
